    Z Modular is seeking a SolidWorks Designer for the design and modeling of modular residential buildings. This position requires the candidate to work with the in-house design team to model Architectural, Structural and/or MEP layouts and details. The candidate must be highly skilled in SolidWorks and will be required to demonstrate their ability. They will also be skilled in the interpretation of building design documents and the development of construction documents during the shop drawing phase of the construction process. The ideal candidate will have an interest in modular construction, automated fabrication systems, parametric design software, and developing alternative approaches to the construction industry.


    Experience Level      Junior:                5+ years experience in construction and/or design


                                 Intermediate:      10+ years experience in construction and/or design

                                 Senior:               15+ years experience in construction and/or design



    The candidate will design, model, review and coordinate modular building systems in SolidWorks:


    SolidWorks                 Complete modeling and drawing of parts, assemblies, sheets and BOMs

    Design                        Review existing/create new building designs, assemblies, parts or details

    Details                        Adapt existing/develop new modular details for fabrication drawings

    Coordinate                  Review design details and flag questions, conflicts or inconsistencies

    Drawing                       Organize drawing packages including Permit & Shop Drawings

    Office work                  Work with senior Designer to identify weekly production needs

    Travel                          Potential travel in CAN/US to meet clients or review factory production





    Disciplines                  Expertise in Architecture, Structural, Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical

    Degree                        Bachelor or Technologist degree in Architecture or Engineering

    Registration                 PE/OAA or other licensing is an asset, but not required

    Code                           Understanding of IBC/OBC building codes is an asset

    Design                        SolidWorks is required, Sketchup or Revit/AutoCAD is an asset

    Detailing                      Experience producing SW construction drawings, shop drawings & details

    Coordination                Expertise in conflict detection and resolution

    Construction                General knowledge of contract management and administration

    Fabrication                  Experience producing drawings & details for manufacturing

    PM                              Experience in Project Management is an asset
