Western Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a temporary Warehouse Fork Lift Operator located in Long Beach, CAReporting to the Plant Manager.  This position is responsible for all duties in the warehousing department having to do with the movement of product, and to follow the instructions of the Department Foreman in prioritizing daily work.


A warehouse person oversees the following:

  • Moving production from the mill and locates it in the warehouse.
  • Moving finished goods from the warehouse to a WIP area.
  • Moving finished goods from the WIP area to the warehouse.
  • Orders pulling. That is prioritizing stock and moves it with a forklift or overhead crane to a staging area.
  • Daily visual check of rework areas to assure all bundles have a green rework sticker attached to each bundle.
  • Overseeing that all movements done are scanned to verify their location
  • Ensuring Quality
  • Package material, it may be in different stages, raw, work in process or finish product. At the Mill, Warehouse, or secondary operation machines.
  • Assemble bundles and master bundles. May move boxes of finished product and exchange for empties with forklift.  He constantly looks for ways to improve methods and performance. Quality responsibilities include the handling of material or product without damaging it.
  • Helps the operator and or other material handlers to do daily assigned duties.
  • Must know the timing when to move material. Be sensitive to schedules and respond to special requests promptly as to not stop a machine or a process due to lack of materials removal.
  • May be assigned responsibility to move material utilizing a forklift.


  • Forklift certified
  • Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role
  • Leadand promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to move objects and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for several hours
  • Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role
  • Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push and pull.
  • Must be able to lift 60lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for 10-12 hours
  • Exposed to a constant noisy environment during the shift, Forklift Traffic, exposed to Pedestrian Traffic and Road Hazards such as dunnage and steel straps on the floor. Lift scrap bin guards a few times during the shift.
  • Exposed to carrying heavy loads and stacking. Proximity to moving parts and product at high speeds, rotating machinery parts, recoiling steel straps and sharp steel edges.
  • Ability to perform work in a plant/manufacturingenvironment 
  • Other physical requirements as needed for job
