Zekelman Industries is searching for a CONTROLS TECHNICIAN for our location in Killeen, TX.  Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, this position will focus on troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment such as material handling control systems, robotics, HMI systems, control cabinets, etc.

 

Hours: Monday - Friday 3:00pm-11:30pm

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Update and edit PLC Programs using supplied software
  • Able to manage work requirements and prioritize task completion in breakdown situations
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills including PLC and repair of production machinery
  • Safely set-up, adjust, maintain and repair machinery and machine parts
  • Read and understand technical drawings, schematics, ladder logic, etc.
  • Follow all established safety procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Technical or Associates Degree preferred.
  • Must possess extensive electrical control experience
  • Must have experience of Siemens control system, PLC’s and Servo controls
  • Experience in programming robots and vision systems preferred
  • Must have a working understanding of NEC and local code references, perform component sizing (wire, heaters, motors, starters, etc.) using code book
  • Able to work in a self-directed fashion without significant supervisory support / direction.
  • Strong problem solving, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with other team members

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, push and pull. Able to reach in all directions
  • Successful completion of a post-offer hair follicle drug test, physical and background check
  • Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role
  • Other physical requirements as needed for job
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States

  • Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy
