Job Description

Z Modular, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a Production Manager for our location in Killeen, TX. This position will supervise the shift production crew and coordinate with multiple departments to meet production goals.  


RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

  • Oversee and manage all production processes and activities on the plant floor, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met.
  • Supervise and guide Construction Managers responsible for managing multiple departments, team leads, and general labor across multiple shifts.
  • Provide technical expertise and training to all areas.
  • With the advice and consent of the Plant General Manager, develop and implement production schedules based on business objectives and budget planning, ensuring timely delivery of products while optimizing resource utilization.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and production metrics, such as daily operating reports and Power BI, to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Utilize analytical skills to analyze production data, identify trends, and develop strategies for enhancing productivity and reducing costs.
  • Monitor and report operational, manufacturing, and maintenance issues and shift events to leads to prevent operational delays.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment, recommending improvements or upgrades as necessary.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Logistics, Customer Completion, and Field Services, to streamline processes and resolve production-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and procedures related to production operations.
  • Monitor staff assignments and performance across all shifts, providing timely feedback and guidance to Construction Managers, team leads, and general labor.
  • Analyze performance data and trends to identify training needs and opportunities for staff development.
  • Collaborate with plant management and HR to develop strategies for staff improvement and corrective action, based on performance evaluations and data-driven recommendations.
  • Implement performance improvement plans as necessary, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to plant management and HR on staff performance, highlighting achievements and areas requiring attention or intervention.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement among production staff, promoting engagement and motivation through effective leadership and communication.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager to facilitate medical treatment for injuries, ensuring prompt and appropriate care for affected personnel.
  • Notify management of all accidents, injuries, and incidents, promptly initiating investigation and follow-up procedures as necessary.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of incidents in EHS Insight, our safety application platform, to track and analyze trends for continuous improvement in safety protocols and procedures.
  • Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • University degree, Technical Diploma, or equivalent experience in the construction industry required
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or construction facility
  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills including the ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of manufacturing and construction processes
  • Detailed knowledge of the relationship between work centers and how variables at each work center affect other areas
  • Proficient in software applications for data analysis and reporting, such as Excel, ERP systems, and manufacturing execution systems (MES) as well as Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and others
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong emotional intelligence skills, including empathy, self-awareness, and the ability to effectively navigate and resolve interpersonal conflicts in a high-pressure manufacturing environment
  • Superb leadership skills with a proven track record of effectively leading and motivating teams to achieve production targets, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives, resulting in increased efficiency, quality, and employee satisfaction
