Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  

This position requires the operations of the Slitter. Works in conjunction with Slitter Operator to successfully accomplish processing the maximum amount of coil all while performing these tasks in compliance with safety policies/procedures and OSHA safety guidelines.  

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Responsible for the exit end of slitting process. Must watch for malfunctions and notify operator immediately
  • Bands up slit coils and removes them from the recoiler.
  • Labels and tags all slit coils. 
  • Completes set-ups of middle and back separator arms during change over; assists operator when this is complete. 
  • Check quality of edges. 
  • Consults Slitter Operator with any quality or set-up concerns. 
  • Learns to run the slitter. 
  • Daily cleans and maintains a neat and organized work area. 
  • Must have successfully completed OJT & JSA Training. 
  • Ability to cross train others for the position and be cross trained elsewhere as needed. 
  • Comply with policies and OSHA guidelines effecting machine operations, such as but not limited to: Lock Out ~ Tag Out. 
  • Attend all scheduled safety meetings. Follows and enforces company safety polices and safe work practices at all times.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and cooperation with other employees and supervisors. 
  • Submit detailed and accurate Work Orders for any equipment issues as occurrences happen. 

 

PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Personal Protective Equipment required in all positions. Use of other tools and equipment may be required
  • Occasional overtime. 
  • Warehouse environment, uncontrolled climate year-round. 
  • Dusty and noisy work environment within OSHA guidelines. 
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. 

 

REQUIRED BACKGROUND, COMPETENCIES & EXPERTISE 

  • Ability to read, interpret and use micrometers, feeler gauges and tape measure and other hand tools. 

 

  • Operation of equipment such as be not limited to: overhead crane, ground operated equipment and machinery. 
  • Basic computer and mathematics knowledge. 
  • Good verbal and written communication are a must
  • Self-motivated. 
  • Ability to maintain and document quality records. 
  • Basic computer experience.
