Job Description


  • Manages agent network and works with key accounts at the Distributor and Contractor level to maximize market penetration and profitability for the South Central Region (TX, OK, LA, MS, AR states)
  • Develops local strategies and drives execution in support of division’s goals and objectives
  • Works closely with departments to assure needed resources are deployed where required
  • Maintains a strong working relationship with sister brands to ensure the proper Zekelman decisions are made
  • Through market research, customer contact and other means, identifies the sales opportunities for assigned region across all products
  • Develops local sales plans and strategies for active and potential pursuits
  • Prepares periodic reports that illustrate region and agent (or direct) performance against plan and prior year’s results
  • Develop the team (agent or direct) to assure strong leadership in all markets
  • Establishes close customer contact to determine customer needs and position the Company to satisfy those needs
  • Works with local sales representatives on stock and job business to assure all business is priced appropriately in support of company’s overall sales and profitability objectives.
  • Create demand for specialty products by driving specifications across end users. (+50% of field travel visiting with contractors)
  • Actively promote our digital and service strengths through your existing sales network
  • Assure that all key selling points and value-added attributes are covered in all communications into the marketplace where appropriate
  • Represents the Company at industry trade shows and exhibitions.
  • Recommends product enhancements or changes based upon market feedback and increased sales potential.
  • Monitors the competition and reports actions and trends to management
  • Travel to client sites, trade shows and other industry related events
  • Manages strategic relationships, cultivates new alliances and monitors competitive activity
  • Becomes involved in industry trade associations
  • Responsible for special projects as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree – Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • Experience and Expertise: Minimum 7 years of outside sales experience
  • 3-5 years of Regional Manager experience in the Electrical Products Industry or 7 years of outside sales experience


  • Articulate, energetic, personable, and a collaborative team player.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate and enhance sales performance.
  • Travel Commitment: Extensive travel required, including weekly client visits and 6-12 nights of overnight travel per month, as necessary.
