Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow workplace safety practices set forth by Atlas Tube Inc. Policy
  • Follow verbal and written instructions
  • Work from rolling schedules to ensure that proper size, gauge, length and material bundle configuration is being processed
  • Adjust turkshead rolls as required to ensure that straightness tolerances are maintained
  • Assist in the performance of mill changeovers; Set up cutoff press for each size
  • Change shear blade, crosscut blade and dies; adjust guide rolls as required
  • Set up and operate Willet stencil equipment
  • Adjust cart rollers and bundling arms for bundle configuration changes
  • Cut quality samples on heat number changes
  • Use computer to process tags for each bundle produced
  • Non-conform any bundles that are, or appear to be, out of specification
  • Fill out all operating reports and quality reports as required
  • Clean slugs from press
  • Program bundling station to bundle proper size, configuration and strapping positions
  • Train others on the Cutoff/Bundler Operator job responsibilities
  • Follow LOTO procedures
  • Assist in mill changeovers
  • Report any irregularities or malfunctions to managers and/or maintenance
  • Assist maintenance in making repairs
  • Assist other operators when required during breakdowns, bottlenecks, and scheduled downtime
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Other duties as assigned

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Basic Computer Knowledge
  • Strong multi-tasking skills
  • Use of micrometers
  • Use of cutting torches
  • Hi-Lo License/Crane License Preferred
  • Knowledge of all mill workstation practices
  • Knowledge of the causes of mill production equipment malfunction and less than satisfactory performance
  • Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role
  • Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy
