Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Operates the mill saw. Sets-up and operates the robotic bundling system. Assist Mill Operator whenever necessary.  
  • Manipulate the sizing, shaping and turks heads to keep tubing within tolerance.  
  • Periodically measure and document tube adherence to manufacturing standards (weld condition, bow, twist, length, and shape). 
  • Monitor condition of end cut and changes saw blade when necessary.  
  • Ensure tube stenciled with correct information (size, gauge. ASTM specification, correct heat number, and company name)  
  • Work on exit end of mill during change over (sizing, shaping, turks heads, saw and robots)  
  • Daily clean area around the exit end of the mill and the saw.  
  • Must have successfully completed OJT & JSA Training.  
  • Ability to cross-train others for the position and be cross-trained elsewhere as needed.  
  • Comply with company policies and OSHA guidelines effecting machine operations, such as, but not limited to: Lock Out ~ Tag Out.  
  • Preventive Maintenance is to be performed as necessary.  
  • Maintain a clean work area at all times.  
  • Submit detailed and accurate Work Orders for any equipment issues as occurrences happen that cannot be addressed by operator or team members.  
  • Attend all scheduled company and safety meetings.  
  • Follow and enforce company safety policies and safe work practices at all times.  
  • Demonstrate teamwork and cooperation with other employees and supervisors.  

 

PHYSICAL AND WORK REQUIREMENTS: 

  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required in all positions.  
  • Use of other tools and equipment may be required 
  • Occasional overtime.  
  • Warehouse environment, uncontrolled climate year-round.  
  • Dusty and noisy work environment within OSHA guidelines.  
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  

 

REQUIRED BACKGROUND, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERTISE: 

  • Ability to read, interpret and use micrometers, feeler gauges and tape measure and other hand tools.  
  • Operation of equipment such as be not limited to: overhead crane, ground operated equipment and machinery.  
  • Must have sufficient reading and writing abilities to perform essential duties such as quality control, measuring and record keeping.  
  • Good verbal and written communication are a must 
  • Ability to maintain and document quality records.  
  • Basic computer experience.  
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.  
  • Safety orientation. 
  • Mechanical comprehension. 
  • Achievement orientation. 
  • Responsibility. 
  • Thoroughness / detail orientation. 
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
