Job Description

Z Modular, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking two MEP Designer Interns. Possible locations include our facilities in Killeen, TX; Troy, MI; and Chandler, AZ. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this candidate will support the design and engineering department. Full time, physical attendance is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in preparing MEP plans, sections, elevations, details, and other drafting tasks under the direction and supervision of a Project Engineer.
  • Gains technical knowledge in modular design, factory construction, and integration into the site environment.
  • Collaborates constructively with team members and meets strict deadlines while managing competing priorities.
  • Supports multiple projects at various stages, ensuring quality in all deliverables.
  • Prepares shop drawings for plant fabrication using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Creates detailed drawings for both shop installations and site-built conditions.
  • Provides calculations for design specifications as needed.
  • Researches codes and standards to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Joins team members for onsite observation of work, including travel to other locations.
  • Participates in weekly design meetings to discuss project progress and requirements.
  • Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
  • Performs other duties as they might be assigned.
  • Regular, full-time predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of this role.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Completion of junior year of mechanical, electrical, or architectural engineering program
  • GPA of at least 3.0 is required
  • Knowledge and experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to travel to Internship Summit, hosted at one of our Zekelman Industries’ locations
