Chicago-based position to support the Company’s legal department on day-to-day operations, including providing strategic legal guidance to Company and business units, participating in negotiations on business acquisition, financing, and commercial real estate transactions, drafting and reviewing contractual documents, and extensive research on corporate and regulatory matters.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
• Performs legal analyses and researches, and provides legal and practical guidance to different departments on a range of business matters, including contracts, employment law, regulatory compliance, and litigation. 
• Reviews, drafts, and negotiates commercial contracts, vendor agreements, and other legal documents
• Monitors compliance with applicable laws and regulations, identifying potential risks, and implementing preventative measures. 
• Assists with managing litigation, including collaborating with external counsel, reviewing legal documents, and developing litigation strategies. 
• Represents the Company in administrative hearings and/or legal proceedings as appropriate. 
• Works closely with members of the company’s legal team and other departments, such as Human Resources, Finance, and Operations, to provide legal support on relevant matters. 
• Performing other duties as they might be assigned.
• Supports and mentors team members.
• Adherence to the hybrid work policy with consistent on-site attendance as required.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Juris Doctor degree
• Bar membership in good standing
• At least four years of professional and/or inhouse legal role experience

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / COMPETENCIES

• Strong knowledge of corporate law
• Strong research skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to be detail-oriented, conscientious, and systematic with a high-level of accuracy
• Ability to work under tight deadlines
