PLC Intern - Summer 2025

We are seeking a PLC Intern located at our facility in Wheatland, PA.  Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this position will be hands-on, and the candidate selected will have the opportunity to work in our Wheatland facility. This is a great opportunity to learn the essential duties of PLC Engineering and Robotics.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for managing new and existing projects, including collaboration with integrators, contractors, and vendors.
• Assists with designing and engineering solutions for assigned projects.
• Works closely to identify and resolve equipment-related issues at the facility.
• Engages in programming and troubleshooting PLCs and robotics, specifically: Allen Bradley, Siemens, and Fanuc.
• Reads and interprets electrical prints and ladder logic.
• Evaluates manufacturing processes to enhance product quality, process efficiency, and machine reliability.
• Researches and identifies robotics technology for application on the plant floor.
• Provides technical assistance and troubleshooting for robotics.
• Assists in developing new control systems and modifying existing systems.
• Collaborates with plant production to evaluate and implement process improvements, overseeing projects from concept to completion.
• Troubleshoots equipment issues, identifies needs for new equipment or modifications to existing equipment to optimize performance and reliability.
• Maintains records of all plant equipment and modifications, updating files and AutoCAD drawings to ensure accurate documentation.
• Analyzes data and presents findings in written report form.
• Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy.
• Performs other duties as they might be assigned.
• Regular, full-time predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of this role.

REQUIREMENTS

• Pursuing a bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (Automation, Electrical, Robotics, Mechatronics)
• Sound decision making ability, computational, and analytical skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all aspects of job responsibilities
• Ability to travel to Internship Summit, hosted at one of our Zekelman Industries’ locations
