Compensation:   

  • Starting pay range $23 per hour
  • Monthly Attendance Bonus - $1 per hour worked
  • Weekly Production Bonus - Variable - recent payouts have been $5 per hour worked, paid weekly
  • Eligible for annual bonuses

Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

The Abbey Mill Operator sets-up and operates the Abbey steel tube mill. This position is responsible for providing direction to and leading the Abbey Mill team members to successfully accomplish maximum production amounts of pipe and tubing. The Operator should ensure these tasks are performed in compliance with company safety policies and OSHA safety guidelines.  

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Setup and operate Abbey Mill.  
  • Oversee quality issues relating to tubing and implement corrective action when necessary.  
  • Generate and place tags on all bundles manufactured 
  • Complete daily paperwork (production record and time sheet) and turns into the appropriate location at the end of each shift.  
  • Ensure the end welder's micrometer readings are turned in with production paperwork.  
  • Complete change over in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.  
  • Ensure set‐ups are correct using micrometer, pi tape, level, and tape measure.  
  • Clean and maintain a neat and organized work area daily.  
  • Attend all scheduled safety meetings.  
  • Follow and enforce company safety polices and safe work practices at all times.  
  • Demonstrate teamwork and cooperation with other employees and supervisors.  
  • Ability to cross-train others for the position and be cross-trained elsewhere as needed.  
  • Comply with company policies and OSHA guidelines effecting machine operations, such as, but not limited to: Lock Out ~ Tag Out and ensure all safety devices and guarding are properly in place and functioning.  
  • Submit detailed and accurate Work Orders for any equipment issues as occurrences happen.  

 

PHYSICAL AND WORK REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Use the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required at all times.  
  • Use of other tools and equipment may be required 
  • Able to work scheduled and mandatory overtime.  
  • Warehouse environment, uncontrolled climate year-round.  
  • Dusty and noisy work environment within OSHA guidelines.  
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  

 

REQUIRED BACKGROUND, COMPETENCIES AND EXPERTISE: 

 

  • Ability to read, interpret and use micrometers, pi tape, level, tape measure, and other hand tools.  
  • Operation of equipment such as but not limited to: overhead crane, ground operated equipment and machinery.  
  • Basic computer and mathematics knowledge. 
  • Must have sufficient reading and writing abilities to perform essential duties.  
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are a must 
  • Self‐motivated.  
  • Ability to maintain and document quality records.  
  • Problem-solving skills.  
  • Safety orientation.  
  • Mechanical comprehension.
