Job Description

Zekelman Industries is seeking a IT Technical Trainer Intern to support training and instructional development efforts within our organization at our Wheatland Tube, Council Avenue location. Reporting to the Manager, Technical Training, the intern will collaborate with team members to assist in creating and delivering training content, maintaining documentation, and supporting training initiatives across various departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in developing and updating course materials and training exercises.
  • Support the creation and coordination of training programs and instructional content.
  • Participate in meetings as a training representative, assisting with presentations and documentation.
  • Help track and document training activities, including participation records and feedback summaries.
  • Provide administrative support for training logistics, such as scheduling sessions and organizing materials.
  • Conduct preliminary research on industry best practices in technical training.
  • Assist in maintaining the internal Document Library with user process guides and technical functional documents.
  • Support remote and on-site training sessions, ensuring a smooth learning experience for employees.
  • Help prepare performance reports and learning assessments for management review.
  • Participate in team meetings and summarize key action items for follow-up.
  • Promote a culture of safety and compliance in all training-related activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Business, IT, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Interest in technical training and instructional development.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and reports to support decision-making.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems is a plus.
  • Strong preference for rising seniors seeking employment upon graduation.
  • Ability to travel to the Internship Summit, hosted at one of our Zekelman Industries locations.
