Shipping Supervisor 2nd Shift

Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelamn Industries, seeks a Shipping Supervisor for our facility located in Rochelle, IL.  Reporting to the Senior Warehouse Manager, the Shipping Supervisor is responsible for shipping and warehouse operations including achieving on-time quality shipments to company customers through the safe, efficient and economical utilization of shipping materials and hourly personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate the assignment of labor personnel to the corresponding jobs and tasks to meet warehouse/production goals
• Ensure stacking and loading procedures are followed to prevent injury to personnel and damage to material
• Implement warehouse projects and action plans to achieve production and shipping goals
• Supervise and develop employees by training, cross-training, upgrading, evaluating, reviewing and disciplining
• Document all injuries through lntelex and follow through on any corrective actions
• Works with Quality Control Department regarding quality issues and ensure customer and quality standards are met at time of shipment.
• Ensure a safe work environment for all employees
• Reports any process and equipment problems and take initiative with corrections and repairs
• Communicate with sales as needed to generate improved performance
• Monitor and direct cycle counts to maintain correct inventory
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives whereby minimizing downtime and improving production/warehouse efficiencies
• Build and maintain a positive work environment for warehouse/production personnel
• Supervise warehouse employees to ensure safe, efficient & effective operation
• Assignment of trucks to be loaded based on appointment time & truck arrival time
• Build & maintain a positive team oriented environment to improve quality & efficiency
• Maintain daily operation reports & report any maintenance issues to superiors & shift to shift
• Evalute employee performance objectively based upon job requirements & behavioral performance indicators & report back to superiors
• Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role.
• Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment
• SAP experience preferred but not required
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff
• Ability to take initiative, work independently and follow through on projects
• Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as required
• Strong decision making, problem resolution, communication and organizational  time management  skills along with strong background  in preventative/predictive maintenance, lean manufacturing  and reliability engineering desired

Annual Pay Range: $71,000 - $124,000
