Position Description:  Basic functions of tooling set-up and repair. Tooling attendants work independently or with production to performproper tooling, set-up, and scheduling. Work in conjunction with mill changeovers and assist production personnel whenneeded.   POSITION DESCRIPTION:   Position requires supplying materials needed to run the Slitter. Precise attention to detail is an absolute must to be successful in this position. JOB SUMMARY Under limited supervision, performs various welding duties throughout the plant.   JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy. - Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. - Operates safety equipment and use safe work habits. - Lays out, positions, aligns, and secures parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers. - Examines workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications. - Welds separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys. - Clamps, holds, tack-welds, heat-bends, grinds, or bolts component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding. - Ignites torches or starts power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits. - Determines required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques. - Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material. - Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding. - Analyzes more complex engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. - Marks or tags material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required. - Removes rough spots from workpieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers. - Develops templates and models for welding projects, using mathematical calculations based on blueprint information. - Positions and secures workpieces, using hoists, cranes, wire, and banding machines or hand tools. - Operates metal shaping, straightening, and bending machines, such as brakes and shears. - Sets up and uses ladders and scaffolding as necessary to complete work. - Uses fire suppression methods in industrial emergencies. - Estimates materials needed for production and manufacturing and maintains required stocks of materials. - Performs daily crane/mobile equipment inspections. - Regular, full-time predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of this role.
