We’re proud to be a division of Zekelman Industries, the largest independent steel pipe and tube manufacturer in North America.   Z Modular seeks a Quality Assurance Manager to manage all quality and technical activities of the Chandler, AZ Plant.  This person will be responsible for managing and performing the daily quality assurance responsibilities of projects to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the established minimum standards. The Quality Assurance Manager role includes direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the work flow process and working with other in-house personnel (e.g.: Production Engineering, etc.) and external personnel to produce a quality product.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Develops policies, procedures and methods to evaluate and improve the quality of products, materials, components and/or operations. - Supervises Inspectors and directs quality related activities at the facility. - Develops, assures and maintains the quality of products and processes, including standard procedures, quality audits/review, process engineering, etc. - Manage daily conformance to existing quality system and review continuous improvement. - Manages plant trials and other activities affecting product quality; including water, plumbing, electric, HVAC, weldments and window testing. - Tracks and resolves quality issues and works with purchasing and peers to support vendor evaluation programs. - Maintains a separate Performance standard specific to Customer construction needs, vs. the standard QA requirements required by the states we work within. - Perform quality control testing and inspection in adherence with contract requirements and company best practices - Provide ongoing QA program training to production leadership. Slitter set-up is responsible for performing tasks necessary for the production of slit coils that meet the requirements for the mill.   RESPONSIBILITIES:   - Follow workplace safety practices set forth by Atlas Tube Inc. Requires high aptitude in regards mechanical ability, troubleshooting and problem solving skills in regard to equipment operation, process conditions in order to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues.   DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: - Ensure equipment is maintained mechanically following all of the defined safety procedures and that everyone working on the equipment is following these procedures, including LOTO.  Ensure that all guards and safety equipment is in place and operational before turning the equipment over to the operator. - Responsible to monitor, inspect and complete reports on equipment using manual and computerized maintenance management systems. - Read and interpret information and specifications from blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings in order to repair equipment, machinery, physical structures and systems. - Ability to properly use required hand tools, power tools, hoists cranes, measuring devices and testing equipment. - Initiates troubleshooting techniques to solve quality, process and mechanical problems.  Must be able to properly identify problem areas with consistency and reliability, if unsuccessful in making repairs, must notify supervisor for assistance. - Perform all required mechanical tasks associated with breakdown maintenance, preventive maintenance and changeovers on production equipment. - Responsible to insure housekeeping is in audit ready condition after the mechanical task is completed. - Provides guidance co-workers. - Report any safety, quality, operational or output issues that you cannot correct to your supervisor - Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.   SKILLS/COMPETENCIES: - Ability to communicate in English, use measuring and testing devices, hand and power tools and basic math calculations - Mechanical aptitude necessary for fulfillment of job requirements - Must be able to interface with computers and efficient at problem solving - Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role - Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy    REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATION: -  High school diploma or equivalent   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: - The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. - Ability to lift, climb, bend, stoop, push and pull. - Must be able to lift 60lbs. - Manufacturing/ Industrial work environment - The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. This person will will be responsible for modular construction measures performed in the plant, oversight of site related activities as well as coordination with the general contractor and site subcontractors.The Mateline Superintendent will report to the Project Manager.    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Direct modular construction projects at a Z Modular production facility and  follow project to site.  - Direct and oversee all modular site related activities Source, qualify and engage material vendors to deliver projects on time and under budget. - Work closely with project manager, production manager and general contractor to ensure project is produce to specifications - Provide feedback to project manager regarding any changes, concerns, and updates throughout the project. - Review the work progress on a daily basis and provide daily reports - Analyze and manage emerging problems to manage and mitigate risks. - This position will require travel up to 85% of the time as particular projects require.     REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:   - Minimum of 10+ years in commercial construction - Modular industry experience preferred - Ability to properly manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. - Clear verbal and written communication skills to demonstrate and convey a thorough understanding of the entire development process. - Possess verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with clients, contractors and plant personnel. - Strong leadership and follow-up skills, with a “hands on” approach to completing all projects in a timely and efficient manner. - Possess extensive knowledge of construction codes and processes - Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role - Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy    Zekelman Industries offers competitive compensation and excellent benefits, including low cost, high quality medical and dental benefits.  In addition, we have an amazing tuition assistance program, a bonus plan, a 401(k) plan with a generous company match, immediate vesting and much more.
