This position requires the candidate to work with the design team to model architectural designs and details. The candidate must be skilled in the interpretation of building design documents, the development of construction documents and building science. This position reports to the General Manager. This person will be required to travel 85% of the time. Per diem will be provided for any required overnight accommodation.   An immediate full-time position is available for a Automation Design Coordinator with experience in a building design and construction. This position requires the candidate to report to Project Managers and the Office Director and follow a standard document control SOP. The candidate must be computer-savvy and able to learn machine control software (ie. MasterCAM) then develop files to control machine automation equipment that is located in the plant. The ideal candidate will have an interest in modular construction, automated fabrication systems, parametric design software, and developing alternative approaches to the design and construction industry. This position requires the candidate to be very organized with great people skills.   Zekelman Industries is searching for a Building Science Manager for our Z Modular division. This position is located in Kitchener, ON.   RESPONSIBILITES: - Guide design, modular system production and construction projects and deliver cutting-edge building science services, including engineering and building envelope design; - Review AOR/EOR details and specs on new projects - Design new standard Z Modular details at Parapet, Matelines, Balconies, Soffits, etc. - Coordinate with Z Modular’s affiliates Building Science department - Assist product selection with Operations/Purchasing - Manage new building science studies conducted by external engineers, including: - Life Cycle analysis - Embodied Energy/Carbon supply chain study - Passive House study - Building envelop – Kingspan study - Be involved with other teams, particularly those providing, Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering services; - Conduct building envelope investigations and reviews to determine design options; - Prepare proposals, investigation reports and construction documents; - Provide technical advice to design team and direct project teams (consultants, production and contractors); - Review the quality of projects at the modular design, production and construction stage; - Evaluate envelope performance to ensure project deliverables and quality standards are achieved; - Keep the design and production management informed of issues impacting project quality and resolve issues as required; - Make contributions to company knowledge management and practice systems; - Provide technical support to project team members; - Planning, scheduling, and work sequence coordination - Prepare outline specifications for design development phases; - Assemble project manuals for construction documents phase; - Provide problem solving assistance in connection with the design and detailing - Review shop drawings and material submittals for general conformance with design intent - Conduct quality control review of construction documents while researching and preparing specifications - Check and coordinate details and dimensions - Perform material research for preparation of project specifications - Perform tasks in accordance with Project Delivery schedule - Other duties as assigned.
