This internship is designed to hire students who will be seeking positions upon graduation. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the intern plans utilization of facilities, equipment, materials and personnel to improve efficiency of operations.   RESPONSIBILITIES: - Plan and design layouts for optimal efficiency using drafting tools or computer-assisted design/drafting equipment, considering available floor space. - Analyze operations, business flow, and materials to create scale drawings for efficient personnel and equipment placement. - Establish work measurement programs and analyze samples to set standards for labor utilization. - Analyze workforce, facility layout, and operational data. Prepare and evaluate Excel documents to enhance decision-making. - Lead or assist in continuous improvement projects to resolve issues and improve process flow, productivity, and quality. - Develop and refine manufacturing processes, equipment, and products. Implement new methods with management input. - Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Finance Departments to identify root causes for net yield loss. Measure process outputs and determine equipment capacity. - Improve documentation of processes and procedures. Zekelman is seeking a summer Safety Intern to join our team located in Wheatland, PA for 2024. This internship is designed to give you an understanding of how safety is driven at a Company who prioritizes safety first and has a strong safety culture. During the internship, you will be exposed to various aspects of safety management. You will develop the skills and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation to build a career in the safety field. As a Safety Intern, you will work with a great group of people who really care about the job you do. Job duties will include supporting the facility safety culture and improvements by participating in projects or initiatives identified by the site. This position will be reporting to the Safety Manager.   RESPONSIBILITES:   - Assist in Safety Audits: Collaborate with senior health and safety professionals to conduct workplace safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and compliance issues. - Data Analysis: Collect and analyze safety data, including incident reports, near misses, and safety performance metrics. Reporting to the local Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Intern will gain valuable experience in a fast-paced purchasing environment and will support the Purchasing team through providing detailed product forecast(s) to support 100% product availability, analyze inventory turns to reduce inventory days on hand, and assist in executing competitive bids and down-selecting to award purchases.   RESPONSIBILITIES: - Shadow Purchasing Team to gain understanding of what it means to be a buyer in a fast-paced manufacturing organization - Learn the end-to-end process for purchasing materials, negotiating with vendors, and problem solve shortages that impact the line - Perform analysis of spend to help find material cost savings - Perform demand analysis to determine forecast(s) for material buys to support 100% product availability over next 1 year - Create purchase requisitions from Supplier submitted quotes - Create and release purchase orders to vendors for construction materials - Gain experience working with the Dynamics 365 as it relates to Procurement - Communicate with vendors / suppliers regarding order confirmations, delivery dates, etc. - Reconcile invoices with Accounting and Vendors - Upload / Scan purchasing documents into IMS for Accounting Purposes   QUALIFICATIONS: - Preferred candidate will be pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management or Logistics - Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint - Strong, effective communication skills - Regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role - Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policy

Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman, is seeking a Project Engineer Intern located at our facility in Rochelle, IL.  Reporting to the VP of Engineering and Technology, this position will be hands-on, and the candidate selected will have the opportunity to work in our new facility with one of the worlds most advanced steel mills. The intern will learn the essential duties of PLC Engineering and Robotics.   RESPONSIBILITIES: - Travel maybe required - Responsible for new/existing projects, including working closely with integrators/contractors/vendors - Assist with designs and engineering solutions for the projects assigned - Work closely in identifying and resolving problems involving equipment at the facility - Work with programming and troubleshooting PLCs and Robotics.
