JOB SUMMARY Under limited supervision, performs various welding duties throughout the plant.   JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - Leads and promotes healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy. - Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. - Operates safety equipment and use safe work habits. - Lays out, positions, aligns, and secures parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers. - Examines workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications. - Welds separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys. - Clamps, holds, tack-welds, heat-bends, grinds, or bolts component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding. - Ignites torches or starts power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits. - Determines required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques. - Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material. - Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding. - Analyzes more complex engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. - Marks or tags material with proper job number, piece marks, and other identifying marks as required. - Removes rough spots from workpieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers. - Develops templates and models for welding projects, using mathematical calculations based on blueprint information. - Positions and secures workpieces, using hoists, cranes, wire, and banding machines or hand tools. - Operates metal shaping, straightening, and bending machines, such as brakes and shears. - Sets up and uses ladders and scaffolding as necessary to complete work. - Uses fire suppression methods in industrial emergencies. - Estimates materials needed for production and manufacturing and maintains required stocks of materials. - Performs daily crane/mobile equipment inspections. - Regular, full-time predictable onsite attendance is an essential function of this role. Monitors inspection of the galvanization process, including all stages from start to finish to ensure seamless  process stages flow - Assesses design and manufacturing work issues for “one touch” flow of work, identifies areas for upgrades for "in-plant" manufacturing through potential "on-site" repair over time. Oversees new product prototyping by conducting a joint review by plant and product teams to ensure the final "plant and site" punch lists are well-matched and -coordinated’ expedites resolution of proper change management for best quality and compliance with financial parameters according to the “User” Customer and Owner. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Construction Manager will supervise a multitude of direct reports. The CM will coordinate sections of the plant construction floor. These areas include and are not limited to framing, gypsum installation, steel cutting, texturing, ceramic installation, floor installation, MEP installation, and final finish areas of work.  This will then interact with shipping and storage as part of the overall focus. These areas could change as we execute our work from week to week and project to project.
